Funding rate calculator
See what a perpetual position pays in funding — per settlement, per day, annualized — with correct long and short signs.
No venue observation on this page — enter a rate you can read on your venue. Manual entries stay manual.
Enter a funding rate so the calculator can compute.
A zero rate pays nothing either way.
This is a scenario at a constant rate. Real funding changes every settlement — the next payment is not a forecast and never was. Where a market quote follows a different settlement interval, the interval you enter here decides the math.
What this tool answers
Enter a position, a funding rate and the venue's settlement interval, and the tool returns what that position pays or receives: per settlement, per day, the simple annualized equivalent, and — when you add a margin amount — the funding against collateral and how long your margin alone would cover the cost.
The math, stated plainly
payment per settlement = position size × rate
rate (fraction) = percent ÷ 100 · settlements in the hold = floor(holding hours ÷ interval hours)
daily equivalent = payment × (24 ÷ interval hours) · annualized = rate × (8,760 ÷ interval hours)
Only complete settlements are counted: a partial trailing interval has not paid yet, so nothing is added for it. The annualized number is a simple product (no compounding) and is what price quotes usually compare.
Who pays whom
A positive rate means long positions pay short positions. A negative rate means short positions pay long positions. Zero pays nobody. The tool applies your direction against that convention and signs every cash flow from your side: minus is money out, plus is money in.
The settlement interval is part of the fact
Venues do not share one interval: Hyperliquid settles funding every hour, while most centralized venues settle every 8 hours — the same yearly stream looks five-eighths as intense per settlement when the interval is longer. Check your venue's interval; the calculator does not silently guess one for a manual entry.
What this is not
This is a scenario at a constant rate, not a forecast. Funding is recomputed at each settlement from live premium and interest inputs, so the next payment is unknown. Losses and gains from price movement are not modeled here — funding is only part of carrying a position. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
Where the numbers come from
A prefill rate comes from Tollbridge's free venue read (no account, no payment), labeled with its source and data age. When no prefill is shown, the page never invents a rate — you supply one you can verify on your venue. Market research continues on the live perp list and the public track record.
